Our Newsroom
Spectator Sport Media
Independent coverage of high school athletics. Every athlete has a story. Our job is to tell it.
/Editorial Mission
Spectator Sport Media exists to give high school sports the coverage it deserves. National outlets cover the pros. Local papers are stretched thin. The athletes, teams, and communities pouring everything into Friday nights and Saturday mornings too often go unreported.
Our journalists cover games, profile athletes, and document the seasons that define a school's year. Every story carries a byline and a publication date. Athletes featured in our reporting can carry that coverage with them on their own athlete profiles, a public record of their high school careers.
/What We Cover
Game Coverage
Reporting from high school games and meets: results, key moments, and the players who decided them.
Athlete Spotlights
Feature profiles on student-athletes: their seasons, their numbers, and the stories behind both.
Programs & Community
Coaches, teams, rivalries, and the school communities that show up in the stands.
/How We Work
- 01Bylines on everything. Every story is written by a named journalist and carries its publication date.
- 02Athletes first. We report on student-athletes respectfully and accurately, and we correct the record when we get something wrong.
- 03On the ground. Our contributors cover games in person (sidelines, gyms, and grandstands), working with schools and athletic associations to do it properly.
/Get Covered
Coaches, athletic directors, parents, and athletes: if there's a game, a season, or a student-athlete our newsroom should know about, tell us.
