Too Small to Use, Just Right for the Dogs: A Blanket Donation Finds a New Home
A stack of more than 70 blankets, once meant for a hospice center and too small to use, found a second life at a local dog shelter.

Sometimes the best donations start with a problem. For Spectator Sport, the problem was a pile of blankets nobody could use.
The team had come across a large stack of blankets originally meant for an old hospice center, somewhere between 70 and 80 of them. The catch: they were too small for what they were made for. For a company built around blankets, letting them sit in boxes was not an option, so the group went looking for somewhere they would actually do some good.
They found it at a local dog shelter.
A perfect fit
Antonio, who organized the drop-off, loaded up the boxes and carried them to the shelter's donation area. The reaction was immediate. The worker who came out to check the donation, he said, took one look and knew exactly where they would go. The dogs, she told him, were going to love them.
It turned out the same thing that made the blankets useless for a hospice made them ideal for a kennel. The small size that ruled them out for people was just right for the animals: warm bedding cut almost perfectly to fit a dog.
It is a small gesture, the kind that never makes a highlight reel. But for 70-some blankets headed nowhere and a shelter full of dogs that could use them, it added up to a good day. Watch the delivery below.
